As a Certified Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Practitioner, I use this evidence-based approach to support adults experiencing anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm. EFT—often called Tapping—is a gentle yet powerful technique that combines counselling, mindfulness, and acupressure to help bring the body and mind back into balance.
How EFT helps ease anxiety

When anxiety takes hold, it can feel like your body and mind are working against you—racing thoughts, a pounding heart, and a sense that you can’t switch off. EFT helps to calm this stress response. By gently tapping with your fingertips on specific acupuncture points on the face and upper body while naming what you’re feeling, the body begins to release tension and regulate the nervous system.
Research shows that EFT can lower cortisol (the stress hormone) and quieten the amygdala—the part of the brain that triggers anxiety and fear—helping you feel calmer and more centred. Studies have also found that EFT can reduce anxiety and stress symptoms in fewer sessions than many traditional therapies, with lasting benefits over time.
Learning to calm your body’s response
One of the things I value most about EFT is that it empowers you with a tool you can use anywhere, anytime. As you learn to tap, you’ll begin to notice when anxiety starts to rise and use the technique to bring yourself back to calm.
Sometimes, people feel a brief increase in anxiety when they first start tapping. This is normal—it means your awareness is tuned in to what’s happening internally. With continued tapping, those sensations typically ease as your body finds safety and regulation again.
What to expect in sessions
When we begin working together with EFT, I’ll take time to understand your unique experience of anxiety—how it shows up in your body, what triggers it, and what you’ve tried so far. We’ll explore any patterns or past experiences that may contribute to your current stress, always working gently and at your pace.
During sessions, we may tap on memories, thoughts, or future worries that create anxious feelings. We might also explore triggers such as certain sights, sounds, or situations. As we do, you’ll likely notice a sense of release and calm beginning to return.
Moving forward with calm and confidence
EFT can help you feel more in control of your emotions, more grounded in your body, and more confident in your ability to manage anxiety. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support, understanding, and encouragement as you build tools to move forward with greater calm, strength, and self-trust.
